Understanding Input Types

Dropdown vs Manual Input

  • Path fields: All path selections support both dropdown (showing your Dropbox structure) and manual text input

  • Checkboxes/Switches: Boolean options that can be toggled on or off

  • Mode dropdowns: Predefined options like Add, Overwrite, Update for upload behavior

  • Category filters: Comprehensive content type filtering for searches

Default Settings

  • Many checkboxes have sensible defaults (like Auto Rename being checked)

  • Recursive folder listing is enabled by default for comprehensive results

  • Include non-downloadable files is checked to show complete file listings

💡 Flexibility: The combination of dropdown convenience and manual input allows for both user-friendly selection and dynamic workflow-driven values.

Important Considerations

  • Path selections support both folder browsing and manual input with variables

  • Auto-rename options help prevent conflicts when uploading or moving files

  • File revision tracking enables recovery and version control

  • Search functionality includes advanced filtering by file type, status, and content category

  • Text file operations support both creation and appending for flexible content management

  • Shared link creation enables automated collaboration workflows

⚠️ File Management: Delete operations are permanent. Use move to trash functionality when available, or ensure proper backup procedures.

How Dropbox Actions Work in Your Workflow

  1. Add the appropriate Dropbox action based on your file management needs

  2. Connect your Dropbox account securely

  3. Configure required fields (paths, file names, content, etc.)

  4. Set optional properties for advanced functionality and filtering

  5. Connect the action to other workflow steps as needed

  6. When the workflow runs, the Dropbox action will execute the specified operation

  7. File data and results become available as variables for subsequent workflow actions
